Places lived: Besides a brief stint on the island of Eleuthera (The Bahamas), I’m a born-and-bred New Yorker, through and through!
Languages Spoken: English
Favorite place to run: Central Park
Favorite race: NYC Marathon
Goal in racing: As someone who grew up with Crohn’s disease, my initial goal was to show young patients that they could grow up to accomplish difficult things like running a marathon. Little did I realize, I’d actually fall in love with running, run over 10 more marathons, qualify for Boston and Berlin, and continue posting PRs for over a decade. It’s all gravy at this point!
Most known for: Not trying to reinvent the wheel and sticking to wisdom that works. I don’t promise shortcuts, don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach, and have nothing truly revolutionary to offer… which is why I call myself “just another” running coach!
Something people don’t know about me: I’m SCUBA certified!
Pets: I am the co-parent of lots and lots of plants.
Sub-Specialties: It may be more of an anti-specialty, but my introduction to running was very non-traditional – I didn’t run for a high school or college team, I just stumbled into it with zero knowledge, zero expectations, and just enough inspiration to not give up at the first bad run. I can identify with the impostor syndrome that a lot of new runners experience today, as well as the competitive streak many of us have. I know what it’s like to train for a marathon time that is much slower than a Boston Qualifier, and I know what it’s like to train for one that’s much faster.
Message: No matter your purpose or pace, we’re all crossing the same finish line – even if that finish line means something different to all of us! Let’s chase those dreams together!
