Alex Gometz is an athlete and leader in sports performance and injury prevention. He started Prehab in 2001 in response to his own desire to perform better, consistently and reliably so that he could be able to continue his passion of sports throughout his lifetime, uninterrupted by injury or pain. He enjoys a program that is perfectly tailored to each individual who is unique in their physical makeup, history and desired goals and motivations. For the past two decades, he has helped athletes looking for answers to questions about a quick end to sports-related injuries and limitations to their athletic performance.
Awarded by the USA Track & Field Association (USATF) for his excellence, Alex has been recognized as a leader in the field. He holds a PhD in Physical Therapy and participates in ongoing research on the topic of prehabilitation and concussion with Mt. Sinai’s Neurosurgery Department. He regularly teaches at schools, hospitals and community forums to keep the community aware of ongoing advances. He is a mentor to other clinicians and and his research appears regularly in publications including “Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery,” “The Orthopedic Journal of Sports Medicine,” and “The Journal of Athletic Training.”
Alex enjoys working with a wide variety of athletes, professionals and youth. Some of his clients include Olympians, Broadway stars, successful entrepreneurs and executives. Whether you are just starting out or seeking to make it to the Olympics, Alex is excited to meet you at Prehab!
Alex is also an expert in concussion evaluation and treatment.
His patients vary from teachers to stay-at-home moms, law enforcers, firefighters runners at all levels and stage performers. He specializes in treating patients whose current conditions are limiting. He helps patients find solutions to the cause of their pain, dysfunction, their lack of strength, and he helps them restore their enjoyable, flexible and active bodies. Dr. Gometz also specializes in Concussion Management and runs Concussion Management of NY. He is an avid triathlete and father of 4.
