At Prehab, we are committed to creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience in the world of rehabilitation and performance. This summer, we welcomed talented interns who brought a variety of academic interests, experiences, and career goals to the clinic.
In this spotlight, we are highlighting Miracle Scott and Natalis Vargas and their experiences throughout their eight-week internships. From observing patient care and rehabilitation to learning about movement analysis, technology, and the patient experience, both interns gained valuable insights into the field while developing skills to support their future careers.
Meet Miracle Scott
Miracle Scott is a junior at Boston University studying Psychology and a former student-athlete with a background in sprinting. With a long-term goal of becoming a sports psychologist, her internship at Prehab gave her a unique opportunity to explore the connection between psychology, athletics, and rehabilitation.
During her time with us, Miracle gained hands-on experience in a clinical setting by shadowing different clinicians and observing patient care and rehabilitation. She also contributed to the Prehab blog team, writing and developing content focused on athlete spotlights and events. Through this project, she gained insight into how Prehab shares the stories of athletes and highlights the work being done both inside and outside the clinic.
Meet Natalis Vargas
Natalis Vargas is a sophomore at Fordham University with aspirations of pursuing a career in physical therapy. During her eight-week internship at Prehab, she gained experience across different areas of the clinic while developing a deeper understanding of the physical therapy field.
Natalis spent time helping with front desk responsibilities and clinic maintenance while also observing clinicians and patient care. One of the highlights of her experience was learning about movement assessments and running analyses, seeing firsthand how technology can be used to provide more effective services for patients and athletes.
Learning Through Different Perspectives
Although Miracle and Natalis came to Prehab with different academic interests and career goals, their experiences gave them both an opportunity to see the many facets of rehabilitation. From observing clinical care and movement assessments to learning about patient experiences, technology, and communication, their time here provided a broad understanding of what goes into creating an effective rehabilitation environment.
Their journeys also highlighted the diverse career paths within the field:
- Miracle leveraged her background in psychology and athletics to explore the patient experience and the critical connection between mental and physical performance.
- Natalis gained targeted exposure to the clinical and physical therapy side of rehabilitation.
Looking Ahead
As Miracle and Natalis move forward in their academic and professional journeys, their time at Prehab has given them experiences they can carry into their future careers.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to welcome both interns to the Prehab team, watch them learn and grow throughout their time in the clinic, and see where their experiences take them next!
